Michael Friedman


Michael Friedman has been Millennium Sports Club Rancho Solano's Tennis Director since January 2001, has been devoted to teaching and coaching tennis for over 30 years.

Before coming to Rancho Solano, he was the Tennis Director at In-Shape Sports Club, Tracy, from 1999 through 2000, and he served as Tennis Director at the Jewish Community Center in Los Gatos from 1991 to 1999. He was the Tennis Director at Brentwood Country Club in Los Angeles from 1977 to 1984, and before that he was teaching tennis at Golden Gate Park, San Francisco from 1973 to 1977.

He taught and coached tennis at San Francisco University High School from 1986 to 1999, and for four years Michael coached for the USTA at the South Bay Area Training Center at Stanford University.

Michael was President of the United States Professional Tennis Association's Northern California Division from 2000 through 2001. He has served on the USPTA board since 1997 and is currently serving as Past President. He has been a featured speaker at many USTA and USPTA tennis workshops throughout Northern California, specializing in teaching footwork and the fundamentals of tennis to players as well as coaches.

Michael has been nominated for the 2000 and 2001 USPTA Nor Cal Pro of the Year.

Michael Friedman has been a contributing editor for TennisONE since the beginning of this educational site. His focus has been on footwork and ball flight recognition.
