The first move for the step-around forehand

Now comes the opportunity. Greg's opponent's backhand shot has come up short, so he can step around and bust a forehand. Proper execution is now the key to this stroke. In the first photo below he is shifting his weight to his left leg so he can deftly step back and around on my right leg. In the second photo as he begins to step back and around, his shoulders begin to turn. In the third photo he is fully turned, yet his hands are still together. At this moment he is in a square stance, but the actual hitting move will include an open stance finish. A word about technique. He is loading up for the swing, and a good phrase to remember for this position is "elbows and knees well bent." This looks similar to the lesson on throwing in our basic library, and indeed the throwing motion is the model for both the forehand and the serve.
