Greenwald Sweeps National 35'sTennisONE contributing editor, Jeff Greenwald, put his theories on the line in Scottsdale, Arizona this month and calmly walked off with the national singles and doubles titles. And he did it without dropping a set in either singles or doubles!
This was Greenwald's first Men's National Championship and he earned two gold balls at the Scottsdale Athletic Club. On route to the final, Greenwald knocked off the #2 and #3 seeds, Ned Caswell (currently ranked #1 in the world in the men's 35) and Brett Dickerson, both former Tour players. When asked why he is playing so well, Greenwald responded, "I am having more fun on the court than I can ever remember. Results have become secondary for me. The thrill of competition, the opportunity to hit tennis balls, and test my potential have become my focus. Of course, with this mind-set I just happen to win more." Mr. Greenwald is a top Men's Open Player in Northern California and is still currently ranked on the ATP computer. As for his future plans, said Greenwald, "Even though I am now eligible for the Men's 35's, I'm not done yet with the ATP events. I plan to play some future events and test my skills against the youngsters. I am really looking forward to competing this summer."Greenwald was voted Men's Open Player of the year in 1997 and 2001 by the USTA and USPTA. He is a writer for TennisONE and has his own sports psychology practice based in San Francisco and works with a number of highly ranked juniors and league tennis players.
