Moving Footwork and Hitting Footwork: Forehand
by Jim McLennan
Footwork Elements
- To get a quick start, unweight your outside foot as you
turn, so you'll be running almost immediately.
- As you approach the ball, finish your positioning steps
on the back foot. The body weight must be on the ball and inside of the
back foot, feeling tall and graceful, not "back on your heels."
- Wait for the ball, then unwind with a rhythmic step-and-swing.
When you're waiting correctly, you should have the sensation of pausing
before starting the swing and having real time to hit the ball.
The first animation sequence will scan in slowly. Subsequent
sequences will be in slow motion and keep repeating. To stop the endless
loop, click on the "Back" button or option on your browser
and go back to your previous page. Back
