9. Setup and First Step


In taking the Pee Wees on to more conventional strokes, again keeping it simple is key.
Good ready positions for Pee Wees encompass the same points of emphasis as an "adult" ready position. Balanced hands and feet, along with an attentive mind, if well ingrained, will eliminate a lot of bad habits that can pop up later. From a good ready position, our attention then switches to turning. Without a lot of concern for small details, the emphasis is on setting a good shoulder rotation. Cues such as turning the left hand out and pointing it towards the net will automatically get the shoulders turned and ready for a swing.
