1. Hands Up
Time is of the essence when hitting volleys, so first things first, keep
those hands up. Would a boxer lower his hands during a fight? Not likely.
Punches come as quickly in the ring as do tennis balls when you are at the
net. Hands up, elbows in, ready for anything.
Proper balance is equally important in this "hands up" ready position.
Body weight on the balls of your feet, feet shoulder width apart, and finally
of extreme importance, hold your back and neck as straight as possible.
Notice, my posture and readiness are excellent. I am ready to move to the
ball.
