2. Correct Positioning
a. Closing to the Net
And now for the correct sequence, and notice the differences.
I am moving on the diagonal, both across the court and closer to the
net at the same time. Working to achieve the correct net positioning, I
want to play the ball well above the net. This will give me all the options
when I arrive. Observe the fundamentals of good net play: my posture is
good, my knees well flexed, my head up. I'm focused on the ball, and I'm
quickly positioning the racquet in line with the ball. My partner is crossing
behind me just in case our opponents get lucky, but this net movement is
so much better that hopefully all my partner has to do is say, "nice
shot."
